Clippers organization continues to evolve as team takes first place

NANAIMO — The Clippers have moved into first place in the Island Division with an impressive run in December and early January.

The hockey team took over first place with a 5-2 win in Port Alberni Wednesday night in a week filled with changes.

NANAIMO — The Junior A Timbermen took small steps to being a better team in 2017.
 
In 2016 the club did not record an on floor win, their 2-19 record was based on two games being won via forfeit.
 

Darren Naylor replaces Mike Vandekamp as Head Coach and GM of the Clippers

NANAIMO — In a suprise move late Thursday Clippers owner Wes Mussio announced that Mike Vandekamp would be replaced as Head Coach and General Manager by Darren Naylor.
 
Naylor was named the Clippers Director of Hockey Operations when Mussio purchased the club back in November.

Red-hot Buccaneers melt slumping Glacier Kings

NANAIMO — The Buccaneers (26-6-0-1) cruised into the Christmas break with a 3-1 victory over the the Comox Valley Glacier Kings (4-28-0-1) Thursday night at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.

Billy Walters, Brandon Roberge and Jayden Schubert scored for the surging Swordsmen.

Nanaimo's Van Osch sisters qualify for BC Scotties Tournament of Hearts

NANAIMO — One of the city's most recognizable curling families has returned from Kelowna after qualifying the BC Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
 
The Van Osch sisters picked up one of three qualifying spots by defeating Sarah Wark 9-5 in the C-Event final.
