Nanaimo Christian School earns first ever berth to senior girls volleyball provincials

CHEMAINUS - Nanaimo Christian School has won the senior girls volleyball Island Championships.
 
They'll move on to the provincials in Fernie to battle for a BC title for the first time in the school's history.

NANAIMO — Mara Brenner will be up early Thursday morning with her attention squarely focused on Sofia, Bulgaria.
 
Her 16-year-old son Adin will be competing in trampoline at the World Age Group competition in Europe at 2 a.m. our time.

NANAIMO — It was a day when the Clippers unveiled a new owner but it was the same old Jake Harris.
 
In the afternoon on Friday Wes Mussio was unveiled as the Nanaimo hockey club's new owner, just hours ahead of the Clippers taking on the Powell River Kings.

Cox brothers finally on the same team as VIU basketball season begins

NANAIMO — The sports spotlight at Vancouver Island University has been on the CCAA Men's Soccer Nationals this week, but Thursday is a special day for basketball fans with the beginning of the PACWEST season.
 

VIU will host the Men's Soccer Nationals November 8-11 at Merle Logan Field.  The CCAA Awards Banquet will be held at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre on November 7.

VIU to host CCAA Men's Soccer Nationals this week

NANAIMO — The CCAA Soccer Nationals begin at Merle Logan Field on Wednesday, but the events for the week are already underway.
 
All eight teams, including the host VIU Mariners, will get practice time on Tuesday ahead of the national awards banquet on Tuesday night.
