Apr 25, 2018 | 4:20 PM

NANAIMO — A 65-year-old man was found deceased roughly a day after he was declared missing.

Nanaimo RCMP confirmed Lionel Cayer was found in the Westwood Lake area Thursday morning, in the area around his parked truck.

Foul play isn’t suspected.

EARLIER: Despite finding his truck, police say there is still no sign of a missing Nanaimo man.

Nanaimo RCMP reported 65-year-old Lionel Cayer missing Wednesday morning and confirmed his truck was found around 2:30 p.m. the same day parked at Westwood Lake.

Police said Cayer was “struggling with some personal issues” and does not have medication he requires on a daily basis. He hasn’t been seen or heard from since 8 a.m. on April 22.

Nanaimo Search and Rescue was called in to help with a ground search and a police helicopter is circling the Westwood area. Police dogs and the bike unit are also involved in the search.

Cayer is white, 5’3″, 140 pounds with greying hair, brown eyes and a tattoo of a flower on his left hand.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
