NANAIMO — The Florida Panthers signed Nanaimo Minor Hockey product Patrick Bajkov to a three-year entry-level contract.

Bajkov, 20, is in his fifth year with the Everett Silvertips and is having an outstanding campaign in Washington state, racking up 30 goals and 92 points in 67 games.

Panthers general manager Dale Tallon released a statement on Bajkov’s signing.

“Patrick is a skilled forward who has earned this contract through hard work and dedication to his game,” said Tallon. “We are pleased to have signed him and look forward to his continued development in our organization.”

Bajkov wasn’t picked in the NHL entry draft and wasn’t selected until the sixth round of the WHL bantam draft.

Bajkov attended a pair of evaluation camps and training camp for the Vegas Golden Knights as a free agent prior to this season.

Over 337 WHL regular season games, all with the Silvertips, Bajkov accumulated 279 points. Bajkov has also has 21 points in 35 playoff games.

He is the all-time leading goal scorer in Everett’s 14-year history.

Bajkov marked the third Nanaimo Minor Hockey product to sign an NHL contract in recent months.

Goaltender Dylan Ferguson and defenceman Dylan Coghlan both signed entry-level deals with the Vegas Golden Knights prior to this hockey season.
