Nanaimo RCMP search for owner of found rifle

NANAIMO — RCMP are trying to track down the owner of an abandoned rifle which was turned into the detachment late last month.

Police said the Savage Model 11 bolt-action rifle was found in the bushes in the 3000 block of Jingle Pot Rd.

Mounties believe based on where it was found, the rifle was intentionally placed in the bushes. No reports were filed about a rifle matching that description being stolen.

It has a trigger lock and shoulder sling attached.

Anyone with information on how the gun ended up in the bushes or its owner is asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
