OCEANSIDE — Hollywood is returning to the Oceanside region with the hit TV show ‘Chesapeake Shores.’

The Hallmark Channel announced the show, where Oceanside stands in for Maryland and Nanaimo acts as New York, earlier this week. The channel has previously said it’s their most-watched and highest rated show.

The show was a major boost to the local economy, with the Vancouver Island North Film Commission predicting roughly 15,000 hotel rooms were booked in 2017 because of the production.

“My department employed more than 1,000 people last year, just in casting,” Jacqui Kaese of the Spotlight Academy in Nanaimo said.
