LAKE COWICHAN — A logging truck driver is dead after an accident near Lake Cowichan.

In a statement, TimberWest said the “fatal logging truck accident” happened Wednesday morning near an operation in Honeymoon Bay. The driver was working for a contractor, the statement said.

“We express our deepest sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues affected by this tragic accident,” Jeff Zweig, president and CEO of TimberWest, said. “We are working closely with the RCMP, WorkSafe and our contractor on the investigation.”

Reports said the truck left the road and went into water east of Caycuse.
