$8M infrastructure contract awarded for mega housing development in Lantzville

LANTZVILLE — A multi-million dollar contract to install infrastructure services for the massive Lantzville Foothills development has been awarded, bringing the long-standing project closer to reality.

Lone Tree Properties (LTP) announced it awarded an $8 million contract to Nanaimo-based Knappett Industries to establish water lines, underground services, roads and build a 250,000 gallon concrete reservoir.

In a release, LTP expected construction of the services to begin in early September and finish by next summer, making way for the first homes in the area to be built.

The Foothills is zoned for 730 homes on nearly 1,900 acres and will include a mixed-use village in upper Lantzville.

LTP reports 67 of 71 phase one single-family lots have been purchased. An additional 36 lots will go on the market in the fall, the release said.
