Fine, warnings given to firefighters caught burning during ban: Ministry
KAMLOOPS — NanaimoNewsNOW affiliate CFJC Today has uncovered more information on punishment for a group of firefighters caught enjoying a campfire during a burning ban earlier this summer.
The wildfire crew was photographed on the shore of Adams Lake July 11, eating pizza around a campfire. The BC Wildfire Service conducted an investigation, and on August 10, said the results of the investigation would be kept internal.
Today, CFJC has learned a separate investigation was completed by natural resource officers under the provincial Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations.
That probe resulted in a fine of $1,150 being levied, as well as three warning tickets issued.
