NANAIMO — A trial date has been set for an elderly Nanaimo man charged with several alleged historic sex crimes involving underage girls in Central Saanich.

Court records show Geradus Peters, who was 81-years-old when arrested at his Nanaimo home in January, is charged with five counts of sexual assault and two counts of indecent assault. He’ll go to court to face the charges in April of next year, following a preliminary hearing in March.

B.C. Criminal Justice Branch spokesman Dan McLaughlin told NanaimoNewsNOW the alleged assaults involve six different alleged victims between 1975 and 1986.

McLaughlin said Peters remains released on bail.
