Highway closed, several injured in 5 vehicle Lantzville crash

LANTZVILLE — A multi-vehicle fender bender on Hwy. 19 north of Nanaimo Thursday morning caused several minor injuries and disrupted traffic.

RCMP Cst. Gary O’Brien told NanaimoNewsNOW a leading northbound vehicle hit and killed two deer, causing four other vehicles to collide in a domino style pile-up.

O’Brien said several people were checked by paramedics but said it does not appear any of the injuries were serious.

The crash, near the Lantzville Industrial Park, temporarily shut down northbound traffic on Hwy. 19 between Ware Rd. and Superior Rd.
