UPDATED: Forest fire burning at base of Mt. Arrowsmith ‘under control’

UPDATED – 8:45 a.m – The Mt. Arrowsmith fire is now 15 hectares in size and 95 per cent contained according to the Coastal Fire Centre. There will be 20 firefighters on site today, but no aircraft will be used to combat the blaze.

NANAIMO — The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) reports a blaze burning at the base of Mt. Arrowsmith near Port Alberni has reached 20 hectares in size.

The fire was discovered on Saturday just off the Cameron Main Logging Rd. on the western base of the mountain.
