Ladysmith teen arrested after threatening school over Snapchat

LADYSMITH — A 17-year-old Chemainus Secondary School student was arrested after threatening his school over Snapchat.
According to RCMP Cpl. Tammy Douglas, they arrested the student this morning after they were made aware of the post. It showed the teen with what looked to be a handgun and had a caption warning others to not go to school today.
Douglas said posts like this, which might sometimes be a joke, are anything but.
“They might think they’re being funny and this is just to their friends…but we take these situations very seriously,” she said. “The safety and security of our students is paramount.”
