Contractor scam bilks Oceanside resident more than $100

PARKSVILLE — An Oceanside woman is out some hard earned cash after falling victim to a scam.

It’s the type of scam that surfaces every year, according to RCMP Corporal Jesse Foreman. In this case the victim was taken in by someone who showed up at her door step offering to remove ants.

“He was given $110 and then obviously never showed up to do the job. So it was a complete scam.”

Foreman said a reputable exterminator, roofer or contractor does not solicit door-to door and recommended not answering the door.
