Mid-Island moves to Stage 2 watering restrictions

May 1, 2017 | 10:52 AM

NANAIMO – Stage 2 watering restrictions are now in effect in a number of mid-Island municpalities including the cities of Nanaimo, Parksville and the Regional District of Nanaimo.

Stage 2 limits water use to even and odd days and only for two hours per day between 7 and 10 a.m or 7 and 10 p.m. The RDN’s Julie Pisani said they’re a taking a proactive approach to water conservation.

“Although it’s been a rainy spring so far and although we’ve had good levels of snow pack accumulation over the winter, dry summer conditions will be here soon,” Pisani said.

The work now being done to conserve water will help when the days turn hotter and water supplies come under stress, according to Pisani.
