DUNCAN — A Duncan senior is in hospital after RCMP say he was hit by a rock the size of a baseball, which was thrown from a passing car.

In a release, North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP Cpl. Krista Hobday said the 67-year-old victim was attacked while walking along Sherman Rd. around 10:15 p.m. on Monday, April 24.

The rock hit him in the lower back. Hobday said it could have easily hit him anywhere else, such as the head, and been a much more tragic incident.

According the witness, the passenger of the car yelled something before he threw the rock and laughed afterwards. The car then allegedly sped off.
