NANAIMO — Morning traffic in Nanaimo hit a major roadblock today at the intersection of Island Highway and Rutherford Rd.

Firefighters on the scene said it started with a car sliding off the back of a transport truck just north of the intersection. The truck pulled over to the side of the road to deal with the matter, which distracted other drivers and led to the crash.

Only minor injuries were reported.

Northbound traffic was blocked as the cars were cleared.
