Mar 13, 2017 | 2:13 PM

NANAIMO — A man has been arrested and a hold and secure protocal lifted at five north-end Nanaimo schools.

RCMP Const. Gary O’Brien told NanaimoNewsNOW the hold and secure was put in place by Nanaimo-Ladysmith Public Schools as a “precautionary measure” in response to a man threatening to harm himself.

“He was last seen heading eastbound to the beaches on Icarus (Dr.). Just seconds ago our officers were able to locate the individual and take him into custody,” O’Brien said.

O’Brien said the man had minor self-inflicted wounds and will be taken to hospital for an assessment and medical care.
