ICBC changes policy to target bad drivers

NORTH VANCOUVER, B.C. — ICBC has announced that drivers who cause multiple at fault accidents will be seeing higher basic insurance rates.
It say drivers who cause two or more at-fault crashes will lose their safe driving discounts faster than they do today as part its efforts to make motorists more accountable for bad behaviour.
The change applies to accidents that occur starting March 3 and will be reflected on policy renewals starting on May 6 of next year.
Currently a driver with a 43 per cent basic insurance discount can keep those savings even after three at-fault accidents — but under the changes that discount would fall to 15 per cent after only two accidents.
