Quality of Life survey coming to Qualicum Beach households

Feb 23, 2017 | 10:08 AM

QUALICUM BEACH – Qualicum Beach officials will be looking for opinions from town residents.

They have issued a request for proposals for a Quality of Life Survey. The cut off for submissions is February 28 at 4 pm. After a successful bid is chosen, in the weeks following, the survey will be going out to 4000 households. According to the town’s Director of Planning Luke Sales, community input is vital.

“It’s a tool for policy development,” he said. “For example, one of the hot topics in our community, many communities, is the issue of short term rentals. Whether or not companies like Airbnb should be permitted in residential areas. Through the quality of life survey we have a chance to explore issues like that.”

While it has been a few years since the last survey was conducted, Sales says they’ve been doing them since the 1980s adding the results will eventually end up in a larger document.
