Motor home catches fire in North Nanaimo driveway

Feb 1, 2017 | 10:34 AM

NANAIMO — A massive plume of dark smoke hung over a house near Nissan of Nanaimo this morning.

According to Nanaimo Fire Department captain Bryun Ashlie, a motor home caught fire in the driveway of a Nanaimo home in the 3700 block of Victoria Ave by Nissan of Nanaimo at approximately 11 a.m.

The front end was completely engulfed and the rest of the motor home appeared to have suffered significant damage.

“Early indications are it may have been due to someone doing electrical work and a spark, which caused an electrical short in the fuel pump,” Ashlie said.
