UPDATE: Hwy 4A at Hwy 19 open again after closure

PARKSVILLE — DriveBC says both lanes are now open. Still no comment from RCMP on details of the “vehicle incident.”

EARLIER:

Hwy 4A is closed in both directions at the junction with Hwy 19, according to RCMP.

Police are reporting a vehicle incident, but have not provided any other details.

The closure started sometime after 4 a.m. Sunday and Mounties say it is expected to remain in place for several more hours.

According to DriveBC, there is a detour for traffic heading from Coombs to Parksville to get onto the Inland Island Hwy. Vehicles heading from Parksville to Coombs can only go north on Hwy 19.
