UPDATE: Blair Ponsford found unconscious, taken to hospital, police say

NANAIMO — RCMP say Mr. Ponsford was found unconscious in Lantzville. He was taken to hospital and there is no update on his condition.

Const. Gary O’Brien said Ponsford was found not far from St. Philips church on Lantzville Rd. O’Brien said it’s possible he may have walked all night from the Neck Point area in Nanaimo.

O’Brien said Ponsford was reported missing by his family around 9 p.m. Saturday and the search began shortly after.

Nanaimo Search and Rescue resources are spread out over two different locations Saturday night.

Nanaimo RCMP report SAR teams are searching for an overdue hiker in the Neck Point area.

Mounties say Blair Ponsford, 60, left his home around 2 p.m. Saturday and has not returned. Police say Ponsford has significant medical issues. He regularly walks on the beaches in the Neck Point area.

Ponsford was last seen wearing a brown sweater, two-toned blue jacket, black jeans and brown shoes.

At the same time, SAR teams are scouring the Ammonite Falls area for a hiker that has also been missing since early Saturday afternoon.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
