Nanoose woman arrested after trying to hide under blanket in van, again: Mounties

Jan 11, 2017 | 1:34 PM

COOMBS — A Nanoose Bay woman must feel a bit like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day, after Oceanside RCMP say she was nabbed in exactly the same way twice in a week.

Oceanside RCMP say two of their members were on patrol in the Coombs area around 4 p.m. on Jan. 10 when they spotted a van well-known to them occupied by a prolific offender. When they went to talk to the people in the van, they spotted a woman hiding under a blanket in the back seat.

It turns out, according to police, that it was the same woman who was found hiding under the same blanket in the same van one week earlier. The woman, 34, was arrested on Jan. 3 after it was discovered she had nine outstanding warrants and was under a court order to have no contact with a man in the van.

Once again, police say the man she is banned from seeing was in the van.
