Clippers dominate third period but drop game 2-1 in West Kelowna

Dec 18, 2016 | 1:40 AM

WEST KELOWNA – For most of the Clippers game against West Kelowna on Saturday it looked like the score clock was broken.

It was 1-0 for the Warriors three minutes in on a Parm Dhaliwal goal, and it stayed that way until there was seven minutes left.

Evan DeBrouwer and West Kelowna’s Shane Farkas held both sides without a goal for nearly 50 minutes, but a goal against the flow of play by Logan Mostat gave the Warriors a 2-0 lead with seven minutes to go.

Nanaimo had most of the pressure in the third period and outshot West Kelowna 23-6.

However the Clippers couldn’t score until a six on four power play marker credited to Matt Creamer with just over a minute left in the game.

The final shots were 42-28 for Nanaimo and the special teams saw the Clippers go 1/6 on the man advantage and 3/3 killing penalties.

Sunday is the final game before the Christmas break in Coquitlam.

The Express have the lowest point total in the BCHL and the league’s worst home ice record.

Nanaimo won’t be taking anything for granted though seeing as the Clippers last road win was October 25th.

The Clippers did win the only other head to head meeting 4-1 back on October 1st.
