NANAIMO — At a time when much of the sporting community in Nanaimo is focused on a new arena, the NDSS and John Barsby JV football teams, and the Nanaimo Hornets rugby team are focused on winning a championship.

Starting with Junior Varsity high school football, the Barsby Bulldogs beat Vernon 24-8 on Wednesday and the NDSS Islanders took down Samuel Robert Technical on Thursday to set up an all Nanaimo championship game at the Subway Bowl at BC Place.

That game will go on December 3rd at 11 a.m.

Meanwhile the Nanaimo Hornets finished 8-0 in Times Cup league play.

They await an opponent for a semifinal game which will be in Nanaimo December 3rd.

The Hornets breezed through through their last game with a 62-8 win over James Bay at home last weekend.
