Police say masked man wielding meat cleaver in Vancouver charged with 4 offences
VANCOUVER — Charges have been laid against a man who was allegedly wearing a mask and wielding a meat cleaver as he threatened a pedestrian on a Vancouver street.
Police say officers responded to several 911 calls and had the public’s help in finding a 39-year-old suspect who did not comply with police instructions but instead began fighting with them.
Officers used a Taser to subdue the suspect on Tuesday night, and police say a meat cleaver was recovered at the scene, along with a second knife, which the man had when he was taken into custody.
Const. Jason Doucette says the suspect and the pedestrian do not know each other and a motive for the threats is not known.
