‘La-Z-Boy’ style reclining seats coming to Nanaimo theatre

NANAIMO — Cineplex is enhancing the movie going experience at its Galaxy Theatre in Nanaimo.

Theatre by theatre, work has started on replacing the seats in all eight of their auditoriums. Director of communications for Cineplex Sarah Van Lange says moviegoers will notice a big difference.

“If you think what a La-Z-Boy chair is that might be something that would come to mind,” said Van Lange. “It’s extra wide, it has an extra high back and at the touch of a button it reclines.”

With the renos and adding wider seats, Van Lange notes the auditoriums will have a different look.

“Because the chairs are larger, the number of guests that we can accommodate per screen will definitely change,” she said. “But we don’t anticipate this being a hindrance to our guests being able to enjoy the films. We’ll likely just have more sold out auditoriums.”
