Clippers blast Centennials 7-0

Nov 6, 2016 | 4:03 PM

NANAIMO – All of the frustration of two losses against Chilliwack and Powell River was taken out on the Merritt Centennials on Sunday.

Nanaimo won 7-0 and it was over early with a five goal first period.

Millette, Creamer, Guison, Silye, and Kowalski scored in a six minute span, two of those goals coming on power plays.

Nanaimo and Merritt both had two power plays in the second but it was the Clippers who capitalized.

Spencer Hewson and Matt Creamer lit the lamp to build a commanding lead after two periods.

Austin Roden locked the game down in the third period and he finished with a 23 save shutout.

The Clippers had 32 shots on the tandem of Jacob Berger and Colten Lancaster.

Nanaimo was 4/7 on the power play and 6/6 on the penalty kill.

It was a fantastic start to the second third of the season for the Clippers and it’s a busy stretch coming up.

There are road games in Alberni Valley Wednesday and Cowichan Valley Friday. Nanaimo is home to Langley on Saturday.
