Oct 30, 2016 | 4:58 PM

NANAIMO — The Clippers had a fast start and a furious finish to their game with Powell River on Sunday, but for most of the day the Kings were the better team.

Nanaimo lost 6-4, but at one point gave up six consecutive goals the their division rivals.

Matt Creamer put the Clippers on the board in the first period, only to have Tristan Mullin and Carter Turnbull snatch the lead away with two goals in a two minute span.

A power play goal in the first minute of the second by Jonny Evans put Powell River up 3-1, and it stayed that way through 40 minutes with Nanaimo only managing 10 shots on goal.

Early in the third period goals by Mullin, Callum Volpe on the man advantage, and Curtis McCarrick put the Clippers in a five goal hole.

Myles Cunningham’s first as a Clipper started a rally mid way through the third, and Aidan Casey scored nine seconds later to make things interesting in the final period, and Shawn Guison capped off the scoring with a goal with five seconds left in the game.

The final shots finished 26-26 and the Kings were 2/8 on the power play with Nanaimo ending up 0/5.

The Clippers and Kings are now 2-2 in their season series with the next game set for December 30th in Powell River.

In the month of October Nanaimo finished 7-3-0-2 and November will be busy as well with 11 games, including five within the Island Division.
