NEDC CEO Hankins fired

NANAIMO — John Hankins says he has been fired as the CEO of the Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation.

The move comes less than two days after Hankins issued an op-ed piece critical of the city and council for their decision to remove tourism from the mandate of the corporation.

Neither the city or the corporation’s board have replied to requests for confirmation or comment.
