Four people dead after fiery crash in Brampton, Ont., on Monday night

BRAMPTON, Ont. — Police are investigating after four people were killed in a fiery crash in Brampton, Ont., on Monday night.

Peel Region police say the incident took place just before 9 p.m. (near Bovaird Dr. and Gillingham Dr.).

Const. Mark Fischer says a 1998 Pontiac Trans Am driven by a 49-year-old man from Brampton was travelling westbound when, for unknown reasons, the man, who was the only one in the car, lost control of the vehicle.

He says the vehicle went into the opposite lane where it collided with an eastbound 2016 Kia which was carrying three people.

Police have identified the victims of the collision as Lauren Marie Bouchard, 22, Michelle Bouchard, 16, Calisto Mendonca, 49, all of Brampton, and 24-year-old Brian McGinnis of Georgetown, Ont.

Fischer says the crash sparked a fire that swiftly engulfed both vehicles.

Investigators are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the collision, have video of the incident, or who may have information about the actions of the drivers prior to the collision.
