Extensive paving project on Nanaimo Lakes Road gets underway
NANAIMO — A paving project that gets underway Wednesday will cause traffic delays for a section of Nanaimo Lakes Road.
City of Nanaimo spokesman Jamie Rose says crews will be removing the existing asphalt, regrading, then repaving as well as widening the shoulders for pedestrians and cyclists between Lincoln Road and Wakesiah Avenue.
“What we’re planning on doing is breaking it into three segments so that it’s a little bit less disruptive to traffic,” said Rose. “We’re going to do the Lincoln Road to roughly the reservoir first. Then we’re going to do from the reservoir to the Parkway overpass second, and then from the Parkway overpass to Wakesiah third.”
The delays for motorists will be between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
