Roden and Crozier runners up for BCHL Player of the Week

Sep 21, 2016 | 6:52 AM

NANAIMO — No surprise that two Nanaimo Clippers made the Honourable Mention list for BCHL Player of the Week.

Goalie Austin Roden had two wins, his first BCHL shutout, and made 54 saves on 56 shots.

Further than that he has won all four of his starts as a Clipper.

Without a doubt he has been a pleasant surprise.

And then there’s Tristan Crozier who scored three goals in two games – two of those were shorthanded and the other was on a Nanaimo power play.

He leads all Clipper goal scorers with four goals on the young season.

The trade that brought Crozier to Nanaimo for DJ Petruzzelli is looking like steal for the Clippers as Crozier has been outstanding in his first four games.

The thing that is impressive about this Clipper group is that you get the feeling that this week there could be a completely different set of players who lead the team.

This week features two Nanaimo games at the BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack.

The Clippers play the Vernon Vipers on Friday at 1pm and then the Salmon Arm Silverbacks Saturday at 10am.
