Two Quebec teens charged in alleged murder plot detained until at least Oct. 18
ST-HYACINTHE, Que. — Two Quebec teens accused in a plot to kill their classmates are well aware of the seriousness of the charges they face, their lawyers said Tuesday.
During a brief court hearing in St-Hyacinthe, a judge ordered both boys to undergo a psychiatric evaluation before she decides how the case will proceed.
The teens, aged 14 and 16, face a total of 18 charges, including conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit sexual assault.
“They’re still calm given the gravity of the charges (and) they understand the seriousness of all of it,” said lawyer Francis Savaria, who represents the older boy.
