Airshow photo contest features four competitors from the mid island

NANAIMO — A photo contest from the Abbotsford Air Show has three finalists from the mid island.

The local competitors for the People’s Choice Photo Award contest are Todd Ross, Graham Howard, and David Giesbrecht from Nanaimo and Wade Fotherby of Ladysmith.

Online voting wraps up on Friday in four different categories.

Todd Ross says his favourite shot is his photo of a CF-18, and it’s been getting a lot of online votes.

“I think I’m actually doing the best in the flight category, the Best Air category.  It looks like my picture of the CF-18 at night is leading that particular category,” said Ross.

The other categories include Best Static Photography, Best Crowd Photography, and Best Wildcard Photography.

Ross has been at the top or near the top of all of those groups.

“It’s hard to judge who has the most votes for the top picture in each category.  I was leading in several of the categories, but it looks like everybody’s got their favourite.  And it looks like it’s going to be a pretty close competition.”
