Weekend Sports Preview

NANAIMO — The Nanaimo Clippers wrap up their preseason this weekend with a pair of games against the Victoria Grizzlies.

Nanaimo is 0-3 in exhibition play with contests Friday at 7pm at Frank Crane Arena and another Saturday at 6:30pm in Sooke.

With a week to go before the season opener on September 9th, the Clippers need to trim their roster by five players.

In other local hockey the Nanaimo Buccaneers have an exhibition game as well.

They play in Comox against the Glacier Kings on Friday.

The Bucs lost a preseason game 5-2 to the Victoria Cougars on Thursday.

The BCFC is on hiatus over the Labour Day weekend, the VI Raiders get back to work on September 10th when they visit the Langley Rams.

Last Saturday the Raiders beat Kamloops 16-13 on the road.

 

The VIU Mariners open the Pacwest season on September 10th, but this weekend the Men’s team has an exhibition tournament in Campbell River.

Meanwhile the Women’s team has a preseason match versus TSS Academy.
