Senior B Timbermen face must win in WCSLA Final

Aug 8, 2016 | 8:30 PM

NANAIMO — The Nanaimo Senior B Timbermen have their backs against the wall after dropping the first two games to the Langley Warriors in the WCSLA Final.

Nanaimo lost 7-4 in Langley and 6-3 in Nanaimo in the first two games of the best of five series.

Tmen Coach Mike Maughan says the team does need more offense but he’s still feeling confident heading into game three.

“I knew they were going to be tight low scoring affairs going in,” said Maughan.  “They’re a very strong team top to bottom.  We knew it was going to be tough to score a lot of goals but we struggled to get them when we needed them.”

Any time a team is down in a playoff series you can expect some adjustments, but Maughan isn’t tipping his hand too much.

“We’ve got some banged up bodies but that’s part of playoff lacrosse. We’ll see who’s fit to go, but as far as adjustments we’re definitely feeling good about the way we played last game even though we lost.  We’ve been playing from behind alot, so if we can get on them a little bit early it might change the way things are going to go.”

Game three of the series is Thursday at 7pm at the Langley Events Centre, with game four slated for the Nanaimo Ice Centre if necessary.
