Cash injection expected to help Syrians settle in Nanaimo
NANAIMO — A national fund set up to help Syrian refugees has given some money to the Nanaimo Foundation.
They, in turn, have donated the $15,000 to the United Way Central and Northern Vancouver Island.
The Nanaimo Foundation’s Laurie Bienert says the money will help Syrian refugees moving to the mid-island get settled.
“They’ve come from a rough history and we want to see them all get permanently settled in their new communities and so this fund was set up to provide support for permanent housing ,” said Bienert
