Provincial Money Continues to Flow to VIU

Vancouver Island University’s Nanaimo campus has landed $187,000 from the BC Government to support several “in-demand” trades careers.

VIU’s dean of trades and applied technology Glynis Steen says the money will pay for new equipment for several programs, including the automotive department, heavy mechanical, electrical and refrigeration and air conditioning.

Steen says investing in the newest equipment is very important.

“Our industries, in terms of their technological demands and changes, now we’re able to train our students on the most up-to-date equipment, which is amazing because now our students leave here with the most up-to-date training,” said Steen.
